  • The mission of the Inspector General is to inquire into and periodically report on matters affecting mission performance and the state of discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, readiness, and esprit-de-corps of the Fort Buchanan community (Renders assistance to soldiers, Family members, civilian employees, retirees, and others who seek help with problems related to the U.S. Army) and to perform other duties as may be required by law and regulation or as directed by the Directing authority.

    Be the eyes, ears, voice and conscience of the Commanders. Support the Soldiers and Fort Buchanan tenants through timely, complete, and courageous inquiries, investigations and inspections. Develops, teaches, implements, and assesses broad inspection policy supportive of the Army’s imperatives. Continually plans for improving the effectiveness of the IG system in peace, in transition to war and in wartime.

    Services Provided


    The Investigations Division conducts investigations concerning allegations made against Active and Reserve Components, DA civilians, and other Fort Buchanan Population. When directed, conduct investigations of systemic issues affecting the Army.


    The Inspections Division inspects, teaches, assesses, reports, and follows up regarding matters affecting mission performance and the discipline, efficiency, economy, morale, training and readiness throughout the Army. Emphasizes identifying systemic problems, determining root causes, developing recommendations, and fixing responsibility for corrective action.


    The Assistance Division conducts, oversees, or assigns the responsibility for investigations and inquiries into misconduct of non-senior Army officials in response to allegations of impropriety, issues of system deficiency, complaints, and matters of concern or requests for assistance received from, or presented by, soldiers, family members, retirees, former soldiers, DA Civilians, or other individuals concerned with the activities of the Army.
