The 832D Transportation Battalion Puerto Rico Detachment provides daily sustainment cargo distribution, In Transit Visibility (ITV) and surface deployment/water terminal operations throughout Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the Caribbean which is both reliable and dependable to support DOD and interagency objectives.

The Puerto Rico Detachment strives to provide a best value surface deployment and distribution enterprise that is both reliable and reputable to support U.S. Joint and interagency objectives by focusing on highly dependable CONUS / Puerto Rico seaport operational solutions and a robust SOUTHCOM support network.

Operations

As single port managers we are relied upon by our military customers (Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Puerto Rico National Guard, US Army Reserve) to provide knowledge and expertise when planning and executing port operations throughout our Area of Responsibility (AOR). Exercises supported are Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), New Horizon (NH) and Beyond the Horizon (BTH) as well as MINILOTs and TRANSLOTS training exercises.

The Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in this division orders, monitors, certifies services and provides guidance on cargo management for all military customers as well as Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), the Defense Commissary AGENCY (DECA), Coast Guard Exchange (CGES), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and General Services Administration (GSA) among others.


Booking

The Booking Division arranges and coordinates shipment of all Defense Transportation System (DTS) cargo being exported from Puerto Rico and the US Virgins Islands via commercial carriers (inland and ocean) utilizing negotiated TRANSCOM/SDDC contracts. Government agencies not supported by the Ft Buchanan Installation Transportation Office (ITO) should contact this division to arrange DTS shipments.


Documentation

The Documentation Division provides documentation transportation services for DoD shipments transiting throughout Puerto Rico and the Us Virgin Islands. They track/trace incoming/outgoing cargo and document the transportation life cycle. All serviced agencies should contact this division to obtain In-Transit Visibility (ITV) of their cargo.


Puerto Rico Vehicle Processing Center (VPC)

This section provides support to all service components, as well as the US Coast Guard assigned to Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, including outbound documentation services for Central and South America for movement of member's Privately Owned Vehicles (POV’s). Services include acquisition of transportation, storage, delivery, local moves and related services within our area of responsibility.
